Margot has served as a public servant federally and provincially. Notably, she worked at the Privy Council Office, Canada Boarder Services Agency, and Alberta's Ministry of International and Intergovernmental Relations.

Her commitment to public service also extends to the broader University of Alberta and Edmonton communities. She is actively involved in creating mentally well communities as a student member of the Suicide Prevention Framework Committee at the University of Alberta and through her work as a Provisional Trainer delivering Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training.
